Great post, Stephane. I still remember the Radical Candor talk. My "giving feedback" skills improved radically after applying such advice. It's not easy but it's worth it!

While an advocate of empathy, I can recognize that to an extreme, much like anything, its benefits get diluted. The term talked about here, Ruinous Empathy, describes it well.. In this case, being overly kind can be a detriment to all parties.

Exactly! Kind sometimes means delivering constructive feedback. I want my manager to be kind and caring with regards to my growth and help me get better over time.
