Taking on bigger projects and hoping your manager smells you want to become a manager is not a strategy.
In this week’s video, I share the four things I’d do today if I was a senior engineer looking to move to management (like I did about 10 years ago).
One simple thing you can do is take this question to your manager:
What would you need to see from me before you’d feel comfortable putting me forward for a manager role?
But you need to be ready for the actual conversation after that.
Find out how to do that by watching this video:
I’m working on my next video, and I’d love your help shaping it. I’m torn between these 4 titles:
The worst interview I ever had
I failed this interview and… I would have def rejected me too!
The interview mistake I made that you’re probably making too
Everything I did wrong in my worst interview
I will be posting a new video every week on getting into or succeeding in engineering management. If that’s useful to you, subscribe on YouTube so you don’t miss the next one.
And if you’d like some career advice or help preparing for your next interview, I offer 1:1 coaching.
See you in the next one,
~ Stephane
